Our History
Jimmy's on the Mall is Brisbane's longest-standing outdoor restaurant, opening in 1982 as the first venue to open in the Queen Street Mall after it was closed to traffic. Jimmy’s has been a fixture in Brisbane City and the Mall’s dining scene.
1982
Jimmy’s On The Mall opens in September, becoming the very first venue on Queen Street Mall after the street was closed to traffic and transformed into a pedestrian-only shopping precinct.
1990’s
At one point, three “Jimmy’s” thrived on the mall; Uptown, Downtown & Central “On The Mall” location. Eventually, all consolidated into one location, while the other two rebranded to Pig ‘N’ Whistle Queen St Mall and Milano.
2014
Jimmy’s On The Mall undergoes a major $5 million transformation, reopening as a striking double-storey venue on the site of former Mantle Group venue, Café East, in the middle of Queen St Mall.
2025
More than a decade later, Jimmy’s continues to be an iconic part of Brisbane CBD. With its modern makeover and 40+ years of history, it remains the city’s most recognisable dining landmark.
